The Aurora Watch UK app provides a comprehensive tool for monitoring geomagnetic activity and alerts users to potential sightings of the aurora borealis in the United Kingdom. The app offers timely notifications based on changes in geomagnetic levels, indicating the likelihood of witnessing the aurora phenomenon in the UK.

 <li>Receive immediate alerts on geomagnetic activity changes that affect AuroraWatch status levels.</li>
 <li>View the current alert status and related notes.</li>
 <li>Access a detailed history of geomagnetic activity in the last 24 hours.</li>
 <li>Utilize a 30-minute forecast model sourced from SWPC.</li>

Please be aware of the following:
<ul>
 <li>Phone settings like Battery Saver may affect push notifications and reduce the window for receiving aurora alerts.</li>
 <li>If you encounter issues with alerts, ensure that Notifications for Aurora Watch UK are enabled within your phone's Settings/Notifications/App settings.</li>
 <li>Alerts are not retroactive; connectivity is required to receive notifications during active geomagnetic periods.</li>
 <li>There might be a necessary delay in receiving alerts to allow data to stabilize, per recommendations from Lancaster University.</li>
 <li>Lancaster University primarily employs data from the Lancaster magnetometer network for alerts, potentially underestimating the northern visibility, particularly for locations like Shetland with higher aurora sighting probabilities.</li>

Alerts data is sourced from Lancaster University, utilizing SAMNET and/or AuroraWatchNet magnetometer networks.
